Mike's New Office

(Click the smaller picture to view the full sized version)

Mike recently remodeled the old "sun room" as his new office.

He went all-out installing cabinets, countertops and a top of the line ergonomic workstation.

This unique workstation features quad displays attached to a single computer, allowing the Windows desktop to span across four monitors.

He is particularly fond of the garden view.

The office also features a good view of the front yard.

Mike wanted to maximize both cabinet space and countertop space.

Additional cabinet space and a small work surface behind the workstation

For additional storage space, Mike custom-built shelves that wrap all the way around the room.

The unique construction of these shelves have no support underneath the shelves. This allows the shelves to span over doorways and windows.

In the corner of the office is the network and telephone center for the whole house.

A minimum of three cat-5 drops go to each room in the house and tie into a 24 port switch.

The network center is mounted on the upper shelf and swings out on a hinged wall-mount rack allowing access to the wiring.

On the main countertop sits the web server, Mike's main workstation, the multi-function printer...

... web server console...

...and a docking area for his laptop.

Mike is an overachiver when it comes to cable management.

More cable management, the UPS and sub woofer for the PC's sound system.

Most of the power for the computer equipment plugs into power strips mounted under the center countertop area.

Additional cable management and USB hub attached to the underside of the keyboard tray

The keyboard tray featues a scanner and the volume/mute control for the sound system.
